VirtualLogix VLX First to Support Symbian OS

VirtualLogix has announced that its virtualization software product, VirtualLogix VLX, is the first to support Symbian (News - Alert) OS, the open operating system for advanced data-enabled mobile phones.

VirtualLogix (News - Alert) VLX enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and semiconductor vendors to leverage the benefits of virtualization in their phone product designs.

A global provider of Real-Time Virtualization technology for connected devices, VirtualLogix is a member of the Symbian Partner Network, and is committed to developing solutions based on the Symbian platform for the benefit of the mobile industry.

Symbian powers smartphones from global handset manufacturers and VirtualLogix’s officials believe that by extending the benefits of real-time virtualization to the Symbian ecosystem, they are widening the scope of applications that smartphone users will be able to access on their mobile devices, and speeding innovation within the Symbian community.

As VirtualLogix VLX for mobile handsets separates hardware management and application management on mobile platforms, an application running on the Symbian OS is allowed to access a peripheral device managed by another operating system kernel, such as Linux.

Thanks to additional security for financial and other high-risk transactions, VirtualLogix VLX for Symbian allows both handset manufacturers and wireless operators to deliver more reliable mobile phones with advanced features to the mass market.

Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy for VirtualLogix, Michel Gien indicated that by supporting the Symbian platform, VirtualLogix VLX further expands its position as the mobile virtualization market standard.

VirtualLogix can be easily ported to any operating system, and thus helps mobile phones to maintain a seamless multimedia experience for consumers, while advancing security capabilities and ensuring application innovation for the mobile device market.
