Bandshell, An iPhone 3G And 3GS Compatible Case, Improves Sound
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
A new iPhone (News - Alert) 3G and 3GS compatible case, Bandshell, enhances the phone’s functionality with a retractable sound door and integrated stand. Bandshell is debuting at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.
A product of Milwaukee-based TJM Innovations, Inc., Bandshell transforms when the patent-pending sound door glides from the back. The resulting curvature enhances the acoustics of the iPhone’s internal speaker.
The Bandshell iPhone case is ultra-slim, durable and improves the iPhone listening and viewing experience. This dual-purpose iPhone case amplifies the volume and sound quality of music and videos, without the need for extra speakers or cords.
The flat side of the Bandshell enables the iPhone to stand by itself. This gives an easy widescreen view of album covers, videos and apps without having to hold the iPhone or lean it against something. The Bandshell is available in 12 colors. It is possible for consumers to mix and match Bandshell’s front, back and retractable door to personalize their iPhone case by choosing from these 12 colors or swapping case pieces and door colors with friends to create a multi-colored case.
According to Ted McNamara, president and founder of Bandshell, the case hits a trifecta with sound enhancement, convenience and good looks. In addition, it protects the iPhone.
McNamara added that the Bandshell’s sound quality properties are not meant to replace external speakers for higher decibel uses. Instead it should be used for providing a convenient way to improve sound from the iPhone’s internal speaker in situations when earphones are not desired or practical.
What’s more, Bandshell provides a convenient way to host conference calls since it can be used hands free and projects voices. Bandshell can also be used for making audio recordings, since its design allows users to better capture sound. In addition, the improved speaker phone reduces the fear of harmful radio electromagnetic waves.
Bandshell uses a combination of latches and snap closures to keep the iPhone case closed. It is this two clasp feature and the strong construction of Bandshell that provides protection from falls, bumps and handling. It is also possible to use a power/syncing cord with the Bandshell in place.
