SANYO Unveils Nine New HD Surveillance Cameras

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

SANYO North America Corporation has unveiled its 2009 lineup of nine new HD surveillance cameras that offer high-quality, high-definition video for critical security monitoring.

The world’s first complete lineup of Full HD 1080p and full-frame rate compatible network cameras with multi-streaming H.264 and MJPEG codecs includes four different form factors-Box, Dome, Zoom, and PTZ.

The nine new cameras expand the SANYO family of security video products that are driving high-definition into CCTV.

According to the company officials the growing demand for high quality HD video in the security industry has created the need for HD cameras in various configurations.

Officials said that by combining HD video with security features, the company can help security professionals seize this opportunity by offering proven HD video in a variety of form factors for different applications.

The new cameras join SANYO VCC-HD4000 resulting in the industry’s first complete HD lineup.

“SANYO is jumping into the HD surveillance hard; a full court press of the world’s only complete line of full HD 1080p H.264 cameras and we’re pricing these to go directly after the standard definition market,” said Isaac Levy, president of SANYO North America’s Consumer Solutions Division, in a statement.

“Once you see the breadth and value of SANYO’s new HD line, there will be no reason to choose anyone else’s camera,” said Levy.

SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. is a global, multi-billion dollar leading company for energy and environment, providing solutions for energy, environment and lifestyle applications.
Recently SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. had announced that, by teaming up with TomTom (News - Alert) NV (TomTom), SANYO Consumer Electronics Co., Ltd. (SANYO CE), a consolidated subsidiary of SANYO, is going to advance into the European and North American in-car navigation system markets.

Built-in car navigation systems are mainstream in Japan whereas PNDs (portable navigation devices) are most popular in the global market, particularly in Europe and North America (nearly 40 million PNDs were sold worldwide in 2008). Built-in car navigation systems are also limited mainly to luxury car markets (nearly 10 million of them were sold worldwide in 2008, of which 4 million were sold in Japan).
