Avtec to Unveil Three Radio Interfaces at IWCE

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Avtec is set to unveil three new radio interfaces at the February 2012 International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) in Las Vegas.

The dispatch console vendor will also host an inaugural event named "ConnectFest.”

In addition, the IWCE will also serve as a stage for Avtec to demonstrate its Scout consoles' unparalleled connectivity to advanced radio interfaces.

Avtec claims it is the first-to-market with a direct IP connection to Kenwood's NEXEDGE NXR-700/NXR-800 repeaters, as well as a direct IP connection to Icom's IDAS IC-FR5000/IC-FR6000 repeater, and support for Sprint's (News - Alert) Direct Connect push-to-talk cellular service.

Avtec provides Internet Protocol (IP)-based dispatch console solutions for the public safety, transportation, utility, business, and government markets.

Earlier this year, the company received the honor of becoming the world's first console vendor with a live Project 25 (P25)-compliant Console Sub-System Interface (CSSI) installation.

"The release of these three new radio interfaces, and Avtec's recent project with Cassidian for the City of Richardson (News - Alert), demonstrate the value of our strategic partnerships to delivering market-leading solutions to our customers," said Kevin Williams, vice president of product development for Avtec.

"We collaborate with our radio and wireless communications partners to synchronize our product roadmaps and leverage the latest advanced radio features. This gives our customers confidence that they have the most advanced console features today, as well as in the future."

Avtec was in news earlier this year for announcing that its latest software release, Scout 2.1, is now in controlled deployment.

This version includes significant feature enhancements based on market demand, including a key new driver supporting Kenwood TK-5710/TK-5810 P25 mobile radios.
