The Latest in Wireless, Headset Retail, and Holiday Apps

Some recent developments in the wireless industry have caught the eyes of TMC’s (News - Alert) editors of late. Notably, AT&T has opened a new wireless retail store in Vermont to address the growing demand for advanced wireless data products such as headsets and services.

- Alert) has signed an agreement with Boingo (News - Alert) Wireless to allow access to Wi-Fi hotspots for users in airports. The agreement covers both laptops and Wi-Fi-enabled handheld devices.
T-Mobile Hotspot and postpaid mobile broadband subscribers will now have Wi-Fi access at no additional charge at 53 Boingo airport locations in the United States and Canada. This includes major airports in the New York and Chicago metropolitan areas.
The agreement includes the airline clubs of American Airlines, United Airlines, U.S. Airways and Delta Airlines and Hyatt hotels.
Gearing up for the holiday season, Lynden is offering all its customers a new mobile Web application for shipping. This new app provides shippers with accurate, up-to-date information and control of shipments directly from their smart phones. The new app is currently being made available for iPhone (News - Alert) and Blackberry users and allows customers to take care of a variety of shipping tasks such as tracking freight, requesting rate quotes and locating Lynden service centers.
The app will soon have a clickable map to locate service center information and also includes links to Lynden's website, blog, Facebook and Twitter pages. Lynden Transport added GPS mapping and live tracking to its customer service offerings earlier this year.
