Diversified Technology's ATS1936 Switch Blade
By Richard Grigonis Executive Editor, IP Communications Group
For many years, Diversified Technology (News - Alert), Inc. (DTI) of Ridgeland, Mississippi (www.diversifiedtechnology.com) has produced advanced, award-winning, fault tolerant, PC-compatible computer chassis designed for installation in telco rack mounting frames used in central offices. Their unique main facility is situated in perhaps the most picturesque countryside of Mississippi, nestled among the great mansions built in the antebellum South.
Recently, DTI has announced general availability of their low cost, highly functional, and flexible ATS1936 Switch Blade in the AdvancedTCA (News - Alert) (ATCA) form factor. This third-generation board can deliver 10 Gigabit per second (Gbps) Ethernet transfer speeds.
The ATS1936 provides separate control plane and data plane switching for ATCA platforms. It provides 1 Gbps Ethernet switching on the 3.0 Base Fabric with both 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps uplink ports. The 3.1 Expansion Fabric provides 1 Gb and 10 Gb Ethernet with 1 Gbps/10 Gbps uplink ports.
In addition to the three AMC sites and the front panel ports, the ATS1936 supports an RTM for greater access and further expandability. Both of the Base and the Fabric networks are fully managed with the robust management suite reducing issues integrating your ATCA platforms with the outside world. Both networks support Layer 2 switching as well as Layer 3 routing and IPV6.
You can find a technical datasheet on the ATS1936 on DTI’s website.
The ATS1936 is now in production, so you can go right ahead and call DTI for single piece pricing and quantity discounts.
