SSH Communications Security Announces General Availability of SSH Tectia 6.0

SSH Communications (News - Alert) Security Corp. has announced the general availability of SSH Tectia Client 6.0, SSH Tectia Server 6.0, SSH Tectia Manager 6.0, and the new SSH Tectia ConnectSecure 6.0.

SSH Communications is a provider of enterprise security solutions and end-to-end communications security, and the original developer of the Secure Shell protocol.

According to industry analysts, enterprises and government agencies are facing increasing pressure from regulatory compliance mandates such as PCI DSS and SOX, and also internal and external audits to secure their mission-critical data.

For organizations to help secure their file transfers and data-in-transit in order to achieve regulatory compliancy and meet government regulations with minimal resource overhead, SSH Tectia 6.0 is said to be an ideal solution.

SSH Tectia ConnectSecure 6.0 works with any commercial SSH or OpenSSH server product, thereby expanding the range of enterprises, financial institutions, major retailers, and government agencies that can leverage the new cost-saving features, according to SSH Communications’ officials.

Officials explained that SSH Tectia ConnectSecure includes automatic and transparent FTP to SFTP conversion, Transparent FTP Tunneling, and Transparent TCP Tunneling modules, which enable organizations to secure their business-critical data without modification to their existing network infrastructure or applications.

In addition, SSH Tectia ConnectSecure also includes features to ease migration, and is available on UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms.

Combined with SSH Tectia Manager, SSH Tectia Client/Server/ConnectSecure enable IT departments to replace unsecure protocols with secure file transfer and data-in-transit protocols in “hours or days, rather than in weeks or months,” according to officials.

Additionally, SSH Tectia Manager 6.0 can centrally deploy, configure, update and audit the SSH Tectia environment from a central location, and also patch and change security policies.

Indicating that SSH’ focus over the last years has been on providing secure file transfer and data-in-transit solutions for companies and government agencies with large heterogeneous networks, Arto Vainio, CEO at SSH Communications, said in a statement, “These organizations have rigorous security requirements and need to comply with regulations such as PCI DSS and SOX.”

Vainio also pointed out that the enhancements in SSH Tectia 6.0, including the new SSH Tectia ConnectSecure, provide major enhancements to “address the increasing need for cost-effective security solutions for these complex and demanding environments.”

The benefits of SSH Tectia version 6.0, according to Vainio, are improved SSH Tectia Client for Windows; new platform support by adding several new platforms, including HP-UX 11i v3; improved IBM z/OS mainframe integration; and also streaming Crypticore ciphers are now supported on Intel (News - Alert) (or compatible) based UNIX and Linux platforms.

SSH is expecting that by this new release of SSH Tectia 6.0, enterprises can implement secure automated file transfer, secure application connectivity and secure system administration throughout heterogeneous networks comprising Windows, UNIX, Linux, and IBM (News - Alert) mainframe systems.

SSH Tectia Client 6.0, SSH Tectia Server 6.0, SSH Tectia ConnectSecure 6.0 and SSH Tectia Manager 6.0 are now available, while SSH Tectia Server 6.0 for IBM z/OS is expected to be available early April 2008.
