Navman Wireless Intros New Mobile Data Terminal for Developers

Navman Wireless OEM Solutions introduced a new mobile data terminal, the MDT 860.

MD 860 provides a versatile architecture that allows programmers to create easy-to-use menus for pre-defined messages, alerts, and variable backlighting. It also makes possible expanding on complex algorithms for data logging and on-the-fly processing.

“A variable volume enunciator can also be programmed to alert operators to incoming messages,” said George Arnott, vice president Global OEM Solutions at Navmam Wireless, in a statement.

Suitable for both outdoor and low-light environments, the device offers a wide viewing angle and incorporates a transflective, high-resolution LCD display with variable level backlighting. In addition, MDT 860 offers a nearly limitless range of customization possibilities for solution providers.

“Telemetry devices, modems, RFID readers, barcode scanners, swipe card readers, PLCs and printers, are just a few of the technologies that can be easily and cost-effectively integrated with this advanced Navman Wireless MDT,” Arnott said.

MDT 860 design allows easy integration into telematics solutions with an external GPS. It also enables system integrators to develop customized communication systems for a wide variety of industrial and commercial uses.

The device—equipped with a built-in-multi-lingual font library—enables communication via text messaging in countries throughout the world. The Arnott said the MDT 860 offers consumers the ability to develop communication system sets to meet specific application needs.

“Using our robust text communication solution, we can now offer support for a wider variety of customers then ever before,” he added.
