Ribbit Unveils the World's First Platform for "Programmable Telephony"

Ribbit recently revealed its new developer platform that provides an opportunity for software developers, integrators, and carriers to develop and deploy the next generation of telecommunications services.

Before a new communication service is introduced to the market, developers need to design, test and use that program repeatedly to make sure that it runs smoothly. They can also perform other functions such as provisioning, deploying, pricing, billing, and monitoring the application on these platforms.

Apart from developers, the new platform introduced by Ribbit (News - Alert) is also useful for carriers looking to explore the company’s growing community of developers and gain new revenue streams from applications that have already been deployed.

Ribbit also recently made available version 2.0 of Ribbit for Salesforce CRM and its channel partner program. The new version integrates voice communication with CRM. The 2.0 release of Ribbit makes Salesforce CRM deployments even more effective, helping businesses optimize sales results more efficiently.

“Less than twelve months ago, we launched Ribbit as 'Silicon Valley's First Phone Company,'" said Ted Griggs, CEO of Ribbit. "Our vision from the start was 'programmable telephony' -- a platform that enables developers around the globe to design, deploy and monetize the next-generation of telecommunication services.”

The company launched the beta version of its platform in 2007 and currently has more than 7,500 members. Ribbit says the platform provided by the company is the 'cloud' for the new world of Web-based telephony services.

Ribbit has also introduced a “programmable communication network,” where Ribbit's programmable phone network can be used by third-party developers and carrier-partners. With this, Ribbit believes that company will have moved one step closer to its vision of becoming the world's first programmable phone company.

To promote its ‘programmable telephony’ Ribbit has also announced a $100,000 "Killer App" contest. The developer who comes up with most innovative Ribbit integrations across five general categories of the programmable telephony will walk away with the top honors.
