The ImpressCMS Project Releases Version 1.0 of its Open Source Content Management System
By Jai C.S. TMCnet Contributing Editor
Managing content of a website is going to become much easier with the official availability of ImpressCMS 1.0 “Janus” version.
The ImpressCMS Project recently announced that the new version has been released under the GNU General Public License Version 2 and is available for download from the ImpressCMS website. The company also points out that the community’s extended support is open to all existing and new users.
ImpressCMS is a free open source management system which is ideal for wide range of users. It was developed in the late 2007. With a vision to stimulate and promote the open source nature of the Content Management System in both the core and its modules and establish itself as the premiere, ImpressCMS is expanding the system to meet the needs of current and future users.
The latest version of Impress CMS 1.0 is based on the most popular PHP/MySQL platform and delivers an extensible open source platform to create interactive and professional websites.
Marc-André Lanciault, development spokesperson, said in a press release that the company is excited to have this expansion. He explained the goal of this project as a substantial move to bring people together to design and develop a product that works for them. Marc confidently expressed that this version will be a hit with the community.
ImpressCMS is a highly scalable system that uses a very open architecture, thereby allowing webmasters to add modules into the core CMS for additional functionality.
“I do not feel restricted in the slightest with what I can do with this powerful web solution," said William Hall, veteran Open Source CMS designer.
“Our development team is entirely based on volunteers, module and core alike,” Lanciault said. “We have centralized our source code repository for both modules and the core on Sourceforge. We feel this will allow us to innovate across the whole platform in a much more collaborative way as it will more tightly integrate the two most important parts of our product and provide one-stop shopping for our users.”
Steve Kenow, a longtime community contributor, remarked about the competence of the development team of ImpressCMS and said that the company is standing at the forefront as one of the major players in the next generation of content management systems.
